Thanks Guys.
Don't feel bad Jim, I can't cut a square hole in anything. I always end up having to fill and reshape them a few times.

Ok, here's my common household item. It's the tear strip from a plastic wrap package. Makes a neat fence for my power substation.

No one will ever guess what that came from, unless they see this thread.

I know I entered this in another forum, but I thought it might fit here too. I use beer cans to make all kinds of loads and pieces/parts. I even cut it into .6mm thickness strips and use it for metal banding to bind loads together.
Here are a couple samples of loads I built using this technique. The pipe load is made up of balloon sticks (platsic sticks with balloons attached at one end) that were left over from a party.

Thnaks IronGoat. I posted more photos of the scrap load in the Blacksmith Shop under the heading "Scrap Metal Load". I will add some photos of the pipe load in the Blacksmith Shop soon under their own heading. I still have to add the scotches and duage to them to finish them off.

Here are some more photos of the balloon stick pipe load. I tried to get decent photos showing the banding and how it is secured. This load is built in layers and the bands really do hold it together. The only glue used is to hold the rows of pipes together. I still need to add scotches and dunage to this, but we are moving back to the States in 6 weeks, so it will have to wait.

This one shows how I drilled the holes underneath to slip the ends of the bands through, then tie them off. This keeps the whole thing together
