Very Happy The first thing I thought about Fred listening to the other guyz is this.
If you did model it toward the top, model the mine itself beneath making it look sorta like an ant farm veiwing the inside of the mine.

I know, I'm sick sick

Nope, that would be a cool idea actually. Think of all the bats you would have to scratch, and all the bat scratch you would have to scratch!

Rolling Eyes Yeah, I don't think I have ever seen anyone model an uderground mine. The possibilities would be great I think. Just an idea. Everybody dose not have space for a large layout but up and down may not be a problem! Shocked

What I had in mind was the spindly trestle like the original only spindlier with more run down buildings, but I could finish the otherside of the layout as the underground. That would be cool, one side is the outside dumping/washing/bagging area and the other side a cave with men and scoop shovels shoveling dog poo, er, guano. Bats, you guyz think on some bats. Mine laterns in O scale ideas?

I started the layout frame in 1 1/2 foam. The height to the track is 8 inches. I'm using my favorite glue for this, clear RTV silicon. Fred

Very Happy Fred, you're the electronics man so you can do this if ya ain't thought about it already.
Take a LED in maybe orange and paint so transparent red on it to give a firey glow. Your good with brass so make some globe tops and bottoms. For post or coming off the wall use the larger version below or for hanging or holding put together as in insert. Whoppem, lanterns!

How about for bats use HO or N pegions, paintem black and point they ass to the sky! Twisted Evil

Oh Fred, I got the motors Wink

The pigeons are a great idea. A little heated modification could them looking just right!

I love the idea of doing the underground scene as well Fred. This will be fun to watch happen!

Fun project Fred! I had a visable underground mine planned, but I dumped that LO when the sugar cane bug bit me in the ass.

Yeah, thanks Jim, that is doable, I'm thinking amber 3mm leds? I have some Campbell shades that would make great tops. Now to get time to work on the foam some more. Fred
